Key words

There is no substitute for doing it right.

Heavy duty cast refractory shop stoves with or without electric fan top. These stoves have thermal mass! 400-800 lbs. of steel and cast refractory slowly radiate heat long after the fire has gone out.

Simple, rugged and efficient means you can throw big unsplit logs into these stoves and they will burn long and clean. Cast refractory will continue heating and keep your shop warm till morning without damping.

The Seton Refractory Wood Stove combines the clean burn and thermal storage properties of a masonry stove with the fast response time and control that a steel stove achieves.

Refractory stoves absorb heat from combustion and reflect it back into the burning process, this greatly increases the combustion temperature. Also, the thermal mass of the refractory releases heat long after the fire has gone out.

Masonry Heaters

Masonry heaters are famous for giving steady even radiant heat over a long period of time. But they do have some drawbacks. They are very slow to heat up, often requiring a day or more to satisfy the heating needs required. If the weather warms up they will over heat the space. They normally require a backup system to keep the space comfortable at all times. They do not distribute heat evenly especially in odd shaped area's or in areas with large amounts glass. The refractory surfaces give a high combustion efficiency but after the fire is out the heater continues to lose stored heat up the chimney reducing the heat transfer efficiency.

Steel Wood Heaters

Steel stoves have the ability to heat a space very quickly and will heat odd or large spaces through convection and radiant heat, and they will adapt to weather changes. The rapid heat up often causes overheating. The new higher efficiency stoves are sensitive to wood types and moisture content. They cool very rapidly and do not hold much wood.

Are you serious about burning wood? Tired of tiny little steel stoves that only last a few years? Tired of wood stove claims that are not true? Our fire boxes are over seven cubic feet in size with no steel in the firebox. They burn very clean and do not produce creosote. They will hold a fire all night while heating. These stoves have a very large thermal mass and hold heat long after the fire is out.

How it Works

You will not find a better Shop heater! Many people use this heater in their basement to heat the whole house. This can be done using a forced air furnace or by gravity!
